The holiday accommodation at No.23 is simple and functional. As we grow with the house we will be adding new items and furniture to increase the comfort of your stay. No.23 has one large living space incorporating a kitchen with a cooker, fridge freezer microwave and coffee maker.
living space
Read a book, play a board game, watch Danish tv or Netflix. The cosy living area is the perfect place to relax after an active day outside. We keep a large selection of books. Our history from Daunt Books in London means we have an entertaining and informative selection for you to dip into. Titles include 'Around the World in 80 trees' by Jonathan Drori, 'Food from the Fire' by Niklas Ekstedt and 'Fforest - Being, doing & Making in Nature' by Sian Tucker.
Open space
The kitchen, dining room and living space merge into one. At the heart of the cabin is the Mørso wood burning stove. Based on the 1930's Morsø Forest Wood Stove, the 2B standard heats the summerhouse in winter and warms in the cool summer evenings. The house has electric heating throughout and a solar-driven ventilation system to keep an even temperature all year round. We now have the iconic FDB J46 Chairs and C35B Dining table designed by Poul M. Volther in the dining area.
Kitchen
The kitchen is well equipped with a fridge/freezer, cooker, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee percolator, grinder and cafetières - big and small. There's a good selection of pots, pans, cooking utensils, and tinware from Falcon Enamel. Plus, we like to keep a stock of essential ingredients in the summerhouse kitchen to help kickstart your holiday cuisine. There may also be a pack of seasonal coffee from La Cabra waiting for you to grind.
Living space
The living area is the place to relax. Put your feet up. Read books about trees, woodland living and how to keep a fire going. Read more on the Delighters page.
KITCHEN View
The kitchen overlooks the woods. Oh, and there’s a gas barbecue just outside the window for when the summer nights grow long and the temperature rises.
Bathroom
We have a small but functional bathroom with a toilet, shower and washbasin. The hot water for the house is generated from the water heater in the bathroom.
Ground floor bedroom
The ground floor bedroom has a double bed with storage beneath. The down duvets and pillows are supplied with cotton covers for the summer and winter seasons. A chest of drawers to store clothes and accessories is at the opposite room end. Double windows overlook the wood and wood sheds, and it's an excellent place to spot deer early in the morning.
Upper floor
The winding stairs lead to the small double bedroom. At the top of the stairs is a small cupboard for storage. That’s where we keep the top secret stuff.
Upper floor bedroom
The upper floor is reached from the main living area up a small curved staircase. The bedroom contains three single beds. One regular single and two small singles that can be pushed together to create a double. All beds have down pillows and duvets, and cotton covers. We supply warm woollen blankets from the Scandinavian heritage brand Klippan.
The shelter
The outside shelter can sleep 4 adults or 2 adults or 3 children. Bring your sleeping bags or borrow ours and experience a magical night by the fire. We supply all the necessary equipment for cooking outdoors. There's a fire bridge and pans from Petromax and classic Feuerhand Hurricane Lanterns in our signature red to light your way.
The wood sheds
There are two wood sheds on the grounds of the summerhouse. One is complete with seasoned wood, the other has half-seasoned and newly seasoned timber. We fill these up as we go with trees that have fallen or been felled for clearance. We follow the tradition of previous owners by marking the top of the door when each compartment is filled and sealed.
The Wood
The summer house is situated in 5,500 m2 of mixed woodland where you can relax, make fires, jump around (there’s a trampoline) and be creative.
